Every meaningful journey begins with a single step.

For Shaker Global Animal Protection Foundation, that first step began in Thailand — not through a large institutional program, but through the dedication of one extraordinary individual whose compassion for animals reflected the values upon which the Foundation itself was established.

Thailand became the Foundation's first strategic pilot location because it provided an opportunity to learn, to build relationships, and to begin shaping a long-term vision for responsible animal protection in Asia.

This initiative represents the beginning of that journey.

During an extended period in Thailand, Founder & President Morad Shaker spent time meeting local communities, observing the challenges facing vulnerable animals, and learning from individuals whose lives had become dedicated to protecting them.

Rather than beginning with assumptions, the Foundation chose to begin with observation, listening, and understanding.

This approach reflects the Foundation's commitment to thoughtful planning, evidence-based decision-making, and the principles of effective altruism, where research, partnership, and responsible stewardship come before expansion.

Among the many people encountered during this period, one individual left a lasting impression.

Irene had quietly dedicated years of her life to rescuing abandoned and vulnerable dogs throughout her local community.

Using her own personal income, she provided food, shelter, veterinary care, and daily support for animals that had nowhere else to go.

Today, she personally cares for approximately thirty rescued dogs, many of whom were found abandoned on the streets.

Her work has never been driven by recognition. It has been driven by compassion.

Her long-term dream has always been simple yet extraordinary: to establish a permanent shelter where vulnerable dogs can live safely and receive the care they deserve.

Irene's appointment represents an important milestone in the Foundation's history. She became the Foundation's first international Honorary Director and Ambassador, representing Shaker Global Animal Protection Foundation beyond the United States.

Her appointment symbolizes the Foundation's belief that leadership is earned through service, compassion, and dedication — not titles alone.

As a newly established Foundation, current financial resources remain limited. Even so, the Foundation believes support should begin whenever possible.

Although modest in scale, the Foundation has begun providing financial assistance to help Irene continue caring for the animals entrusted to her.

This support is not presented as a solution to every challenge. Rather, it is an expression of partnership. It reflects a simple message: you are no longer standing alone.

The Thailand Strategic Pilot Initiative is not defined by the size of today's activities. It is defined by the strength of tomorrow's vision.

Together, the Foundation and its partners seek to learn, build relationships, strengthen responsible animal protection, and develop a model that may contribute to future initiatives across Asia and beyond.

Every lesson learned in Thailand will help shape the Foundation's future.
